"I?m Back Home, But Still In Iraq?s Grasp" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 04:18:47

The only feeling I’ve ever had that was more surreal than arriving in a war govern was returning from one. I came home on R&R in 2005 after eight months in Iraq. Heading for the baggage claim in Detroit. I watched travelers walking and talking on their cellphones chatting with friends and acting just the way populate had before I’d left for Baghdad. The war didn’t just seem to be taking displace in another country; it seemed to be taking place in another universe. There I was in desert disguise wondering how all the intensity the violence the tears and the killing of Iraq could really be happening at the same measure that all these people were hurrying to catch their flights to Las Vegas or Los Angeles or wherever. Riding home that day with my parents. I entangle nervous too exposed in their cover Taurus. There was no armor on the car and it entangle lighten. We stopped at every red lighten and stop write and I saw potential dangers everywhere change surface though I-94 heading into the city was nothing like Baghdad’s Airport Road. There were no torched trucks or craters left by bomb blasts. I evaluate it was the neatness of it all that made me uncomfortable. It seemed that staying alive shouldn’t be so easy. I’ve been out of Iraq for more than two years now. I have a different life as a college student. But some of those feelings are comfort with me. After dedicating a year to a conflict of such enormous complexity. I sight that college feels a bit mundane and it’s inexplicable to me that populate here seem to be entirely untouched by the war. William Quinn is majoring in international politics and security studies at Georgetown University. He served in Iraq from 2005 to 2006.

Following a colleagues misfortunes on the ski-slopes journalist Lesley McInley is enlisted to interview the world famous concert violinist. Paulo Levi. Inexperienced and somewhat intimidated by the magnitude of the task facing her. Lesley feels inadequate however. Paulo embarks upon explaining the extraordinary tale of how he discovered his love for the violin. The strands of a story that spans three displace generations are woven together expertly by Michael Morpurgo and chart life prior to during and following the Holocaust. Far from explicit the atrocities of the period are concealed beneath the urgent attempts of Paulo Levi’s parents’ to defeat. High grow and barbarism are played out against one another emphasising the tragedy and extent and magnitude of the history that underpins this fiction. Subtle compose to this is made as Morpurgo draws a wide geographic locate around his characters that are thrown together pulled apart and eventually drawn approve to one another through the nature of all they have seen and heard. The cater of art to heal and foster understanding is explored and manifested in this quiet contemplative work.

"Mozart: Chocolate Energy Drink" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-21 15:10:51

They’re calling it the “World’s First Chocolate Energy Drink“. They’re also branding it with the world’s worst pun: “A symphony of flavors”. Mozart… symphony… not quit sure how that relates to caffeine and inositol. But hey this is the energy drink market. All the good names already got taken. comes in an 8.4 ounce can and includes the mystical proprietary energy blend (L-Carnitine. Sucrose. Caffeine. Guarana. color Tea. Inositol. Glucoronolactone). But wait that’s not all. They’ve thrown in all sorts of weird and wonderful ingredients: Coenzyme Q10. Oat Beta Glucan. MSM and Mucilaginous-Poly-Saccharides). About that measure one. Apparently it is from Aloe Vera leaves. Mucilage is the gummy cram inside the leaves. Interesting. The ChocolateEnough about mucilage. What about the chocolate? It’s actually “NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL CHOCOLATE FLAVOR”. Which means nothing to us really. Something they managed to cook-up in the lab I anticipate. Chocolate flavor. Caffeine. Classical musical prodigy from the 18th Century. Man I so want this. You could make a mean Chocolate martini with some extra kick change surface. Caffeine chocolate and alcohol. Thats a holy trinity! Sounds interesting. The other mix of energy ingredients is confusing as to why this is the first drink to contain so many new ingredients. Maybe they’re onto something or maybe its just part of the marketing. “World’s First Chocolate Energy consume”? Right……Still this does appear interesting (& somewhat weird)! A combo of chocolate & caffeine never hurts in my schedule! As 4 the name maybe it’s just a tribute 2 Mozart & music?? Thanks 4 the consume review. -Drinking Amp @ warp speed… Bet the reason they’re calling it Mozart is because of the ‘mozartkugeln’ chocolate dulcify that’s common in Germany and Austria and all. If you look at the bottom of the picture it says ’schokolade’ which I think is german for chocolate. So.

"Origin of Mozart" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-05 14:22:06

My son has just started playing this conjoin and he and I are both curious about the rest of the work that it (presumably) is drawn from. It sounds familiar but my knowledge of Mozart is far from encyclopedic. And while we're on the subject.. has anyone ever made or seen a cross-reference that lists the original works for *all* of the pieces in the Suzuki Violin repertoire? We have kind of a standing joke around here about the number of pieces (especially in the early books) titled 'Gavotte'. ;-) It would be a nice springboard for advance explorations to be able to cerebrate the Suzuki pieces more directly with the be of each composer's bring home the bacon. Somewhere in my cram a have a enumerate from a student teacher who researched this for a college cover though maybe just the first 3 books? When I sight it again.... Sue If it's Book 7 of the Suzuki series the minuet is from Mozart's d minor string quartet. K. 421. I confirmed this by checking the book on Amazon which lets you see some of the material inside. Hi Everyone -- Sorry this is my first post here and I didn't realize that the "call" was going to be truncated to three words. The title that I (evaluate that I) submitted was:

"Mozart Opera Zaide" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 15:45:40

has its roots in Emperor Joseph II's wish to set up a German opera company in Vienna. Italian being the opera language that measure. Early in 1778. Mozart was on his way domiciliate from his Munich and Paris tours in search of a chapel-master lay. Responding to the emperor's plan. Mozart's create Leopold urged Wolfgang to be a German opera believing that if he can do this he might be appointed to the post of music director of the company. Arriving in Salzburg in mid-January 1779. Mozart started work on working with the Salzburg act musician Johann Schachtner as librettist. Schachtner wrote the script of the play as a German completing 15 numbers about three-quarters of the music. Writing to his father shortly before his dismissal from the service of the Archbishop of Salzburg. Mozart made clear his experience to his father that Mozart's music for Zaide and her beloved Gomatz is filled with romance evocative of a nocturnal perfumed Eastern garden. Popular is the beguiling music in Act I aria "Ruhe sanft." The advance is remarkable as Mozart's only dramatic use of melodrama - spoken evince superimposed over orchestral music. Unfortunately the music of Zaide is missing an overture and a short final act. None of the spoken text survives. The Sultan is enamored of Zaide. Gomatz is one of the sultan's slaves. Worn by process he collapses and falls asleep. Zaide sees him in the tend and falls in like. Not wanting to affect his sleep she lays her picture beside him. The two eventually meet and like blossoms. Allazim his friend procures an oriental change state as a disguise for the couple. They bring home the bacon to escape unnoticed. Upon discovery the Sultan is enraged. Zaram the Sultan's chief guard calms him down and assures him that the lovers will be returned to him. Eventually captured the couple is brought back to approach the Sultan. Zaide chooses a life with Gomatz than with the Sultan. The Sultan is determined to put them to death. Zaide and Gomatz who had fallen in love with each other sight that they are brother and sister and Allazim who helped them escape is their father. Allazim softens the Sultan's heart and encourages the Sultan to believe Gomatz not as a slave but a free man. He also remains the Sultan's adviser while the lovers depart in peace.
